The last rites of Janakiram, son of former MP and actor Nandamuri Harikrishna were conducted at the family farmhouse in Moinabad near here on Sunday afternoon.
From early in the morning, a host of prominent people from the Telugu film industry and political parties visited Mr. Harikrishna’s son in Masab Tank and paying their respects, conveyed their condolences to members of the bereaved family.
Among those who were present were actors Chiranjeevi, Tarak alias N.T. Rama Rao (Junior NTR), Kalyanram, actor and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and Nara Lokesh, son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Janakiram, a grandson of legendary Telugu actor and late Andhra Pradesh chief minister N.T. Rama Rao, was on his way to Vijayawada from here when the accident occurred. He was driving the vehicle and was alone.
Janakiram is the son of veteran actor Nandamuri Harikrishna, who is a leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He used to produce films under NTR Arts banner featuring his brother Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. Some of the popular films produced by him include Athanokkade, Hare Raam, Om 3D, while Pataas and Kick 2 are currently under production.
Friends and family have spoken of how “down-to-earth” he was and how he would always shy away from the media glare despite being a regular at family functions.
The 40-year-old Janakiram is survived by two children — elder son Taraka Rama Rao is named after NTR and the younger son is named Soumitri.
