This was the humourous comment heard among the media persons waiting outside Sania Mirza’s residence on Monday morning, when Banjara Hills police led by ACP Ravinder Reddy was grilling Shoaib Malik for more than two hours.

The police had confiscated his passport and also his mobile phone, following the apprehensions expressed by his alleged first wife that he might escape from India and that he was making calls to her, threatening to eliminate her. The police told Shoaib that he cannot leave India without the Indian police’s go-ahead, while keeping his mobile and passport in their custody. The police recorded his statement and left.

Now, Shoaib is repenting for coming to India to sort out differences with Ayesha. He thought he would silence her by offering money, but she was adamant that he divorced her publicly. He did not expect that she would lodge a police complaint against her with such serious allegations. Had he not come to India and instead, arranged his marriage with Sania Mirza in Dubai, he would not have been in such a miserable position, say sources.
