The media baron Ramoji Rao who has been getting squeezed due to the incessant botheration from Undavalli Arun Kumar over the Margadarsi issue and then his own internal problems with his son Suman who went to the media complaining about his father seems to have found a breather now.
Apparently, there is news from reliable sources that he has been nominated for receiving the prestigious Charles Philip Brown award which is given to those who have worked extensively for the promotion of the Telugu language. This consists of a 2.5 Lakhs cash award and a citation and there are already two nominees one of whom is the eminent Telugu intellectual C Dharma Rao. The other name is Malladi Chandra Sekhara Sastry.
C P Brown was a British lord who came to Andhra Pradesh during the 18th century and he was so smitten by the sweetness of Telugu language and immediately learned it. He mastered the language so well that even the brightest were in awe of his knowledge. One hopes that Ramoji gets the award and gives him a good feeling amidst all the pressures. There is also news that Ramoji was nominated even last year but missed that to veteran linguist Bhamidipati Radha Krishna (Bha Ra Kru).
