The issue of separate Telangana is gathering momentum by the day. Leaders from all political parties are talking about the issue all the time. While the TRS and the BJP are vociferous in their demand for a separate Telangana, a section of the congress leaders, particularly from Telanagana, want a separate state immediately.
The real estate dealers are making merry and also playing upon the sentiments of the people. When the sentiment was weak, the real estate dealers jacked up the real estate prices in Telangana. Similarly, they jacked up the rates in Andhra by saying that separate Telangana was just round the corner.
The big bone of contention among the leaders of Telangana and Andhra is over the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. A major share of the revenue for the government comes from the twin cities – 45 %. Andhra contributes 35% while Rayalaseema contributes 9%. The other districts in Telangana together contribute 11% to the exchequer. Just imagine the income if Telengana forms separate state!! Can it manage itself without taking aid from Central Government?
The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabd may be made as a Union territory and it can act as the capital for both Andhra and Telangana like Chandigarh is for Punjab and Haryana.
The real estate prices will go up, just as they did in Chandigarh. The status of capital for two states would certainly add big weight. The people from Andhra then will not have to go back, as being demanded by the TRS.
