Ramoji Film City was established with many hopes. It is true that many Bollywood and Hollywood films were made here. But for many reasons the Film City is lacking attention from Film Industry.
Many film makers are choosing foreign locations for songs and putting on sets in the floors of Annapurna Studios or Ramanaidu studios for indoor songs. Right now Ramoji Film City is only a tourist spot and about 12,000 children have visited the place on Sunday on the occasion of children’s day week.
Ramoji Film City people say that the producers can come inside the film city with cash box and go out with prints, implying that they have all facilities inside. But still why it is not in top preference by many?
Some of the reasons for not choosing Ramoji Film City by many film makers are:
- More expensive when compared to other film studios
- Farther in location when compared to other film studios
- Standard spots and scenery where many films have exploited the beauty already
- No new alterations with respect to landscape
“It’s almost Rs 1, 00,000 per day in Ramoji film city whereas it costs just Rs 20-40 thousand in Annapurna or Ramanaidu. And it is beneficial to get into Ramoji film city if producer gets ready for entire package from editing to mixing and delivery of prints. But small producers cannot peep into Ramoji Film City with that package-idea. A few producers those are wishing to sell the film for Mayuri distributors are shooting the film in Ramoji film city to obligate. Transport from city is burning lot of expenditure and hence small producers are not looking into it. Big producers can burn that expenditure in better way by going to foreign locations. There are talented staff members and Fine Arts experts in Ramoji film city those are bagging big salaries. But if conditions move like this I feel in near future the film city becomes a resort. It is entertaining kids like a tot lot now”, says a leading director with a condition of anonymity.
