New Jersey: Afte its formation and a successful initial liaison with Govt of AP, SMEC ( Small & Medium Enterprises Consortium ) has conducted a ‘SMEC Business Meet’ successfully on Saturday, 3 Nov 2007 at Royal Albert’s Palace, New Jersey which was attended by around 200 IT Entrepreneurs as registered delegates.


Welcoming the participating delegates, Mr Mahender Munsuku, Chairman, SMEC says that SMEC is an initiative a few IT Entrepreneurs with an objective creating a world class IT/ BPO Fecility exclusively for SMEs in Software Industry who have been facing competition and not getting the competitive edge for lack of enough support services because of their size. SMEC will also bring in other advantages like land at a low cost, tax reliefs etc. Mr Mahender also said that SME consortium started by 20 people three months ago is now has 100 members and has a plan of becoming a 200 member group with in next one month, whose combined turnover will be around Rs. 12,000 Cr


Mohan Patalolla, President, SMEC, introducing the SMEC Board informed that SMEC is formed by a team of successful entrepreneurs who have hands on experience with managerial, technical and entrepreneurial skills and expressed his confidence that the tem a will execute the project as planned and the response they are receiving from Govt as well as IT Industry is very encouraging.


Mr. Ram Vedantam, Treasurer of the SMEC said that SMEC is evolved over the need and has a long vision of not only creating an IT / BPO Park in and around Hyd, but also addressing several other issues like immigration, vendor development etc. He also said that many of the present IT companies already working in and around Hyderabad, and very likely to shift into their own premises once it is made ready.


Mr Srikanth Gudipaati, Executive Director said that Govt of Andhra Pradesh has agreed in principle to support SMEC by offering infrastructure, and other facilities. SMEC is in the process of developing a detailed Project Report to build a campus-style environment that includes; a business zone, residential zone, shopping zone and educational zone with world-class conference facilities apart from recreational areas. Mr Srikanth emphasized for the need for an exclusive support service cell for SMEs in IT industry and explained on how SMEC would meet that need.


A video presentation of exclusive messages from Sri Damoder Reddy, Minister for IT & C and Sri S K Joshi, IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept of IT & C on Govt of AP’s policies for SMEs and assurance to SMEC members is presented.


Mr Kishore Ganji, informed the status on how initially SMEC Delegation went to Hyderabad, presented the proposed plan to Dr YS Raja Sekar Reddy, Chief Minister of AP, Sri R Damoder Reddy, Minister for IT & C and other Officials and how SMEC is on one side enrolling the Members and on other side continuing the efforts project report preparation, liaison with Govt etc. He also said that SMEC has opened USA office, India office, started regular conference calls/ weekly meetings etc.


Mr Subba Row V Chennuri, Director – Indian Operations has explained that SMEC – India office in Hyderabad is fully functional with Project Consultants, Lawyers, Customer Service staff working. SMEC will appoint more Consultants as and need arises.


After the Q & A Session, and the lunch, several IT Business Owners have joined as Members.


Mr Mahender announced that SMEC will be appointing Office bearers in various places in USA, Europe, Australia and Singapore etc. SMEC will also be conducting another Business Meet in San Jose to reach the Bay Area IT Community.
