Telugu Association of Southern California (TASC) conducted their annual PICNIC and grandly celebrated BATHUKAMMA PANDUGA for the first time in its history on October 4th 2008 with more than 200 attendees. BATHUKAMMA PANDUGA celebrations started at 11AM with a huge crowd of women attendees from the telugu community in southern california.


Special Guests Dr. Chilumula Ramachandra Reddy, Smt & Sri. Dharma Reddy Gummadi and Smt & Sri. Surya Reddy explained the significance and history of BATHUKAMMA PANDUGA. Huge flower arrangements were made for BATHUKAMMA PANDUGA and all the women performed the tradition GOBBIYYALU around the flowers thanking and praying goddess Bathumakamma for a prosperous life.
 
Attendees enjoyed tasty lunch sponsored by Kishore Mamillapally of ANNAPURNA CUSINE, Culver City. As part of the picnic activities, various competetions like Tennikoit, Musical Chair and Running were held for the kids and ladies. There was enthusiastic participation and the winners were given prizes. Kabadi, Volley Ball, Cricket, Rope pulling, and Shuttle Badminton tournaments were held for men. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and runners by President Sri. Nataraj Reddy Madireddy.


TASC President Sri. Nataraj Madireddy specially thanked Suresh Akunuru who’s efforts made this event grand success and also appreciated the 80 year old participant Srimathi Susheela who attended this event enthusiastically. He also announced that TASC will be celebrating the DIWALI festival during 1st or 2nd week of November and encouraged the KIDS from the telugu community to actively participate in the upcoming cultural programs during Diwali celebrations.
