Pingali Venkayya, the man from Telugu land, designed India’s national flag in pre independent era and made his foot prints in the sands of history. Now Gopala Krishna, another man from Telugu land, in the year 2008, comes into news with the idea of designing a flag for entire film fraternity across the world. His selfless motive was recognized by Pingali Venkayya trust as well as Vishwasahiti Group and conferred an award for Gopala Krishna in the name of Pingali Venkayya. It’s just beginning and not the end for the flag that took birth in the cognitions of an Indian going international. That is possible only when the entire film lovers of India promote this idea.
Coming to award ceremony, though this might come across as a regular award giving ceremony to one of the many stalwarts of the Telugu film industry, there is a very significant tale attached to it. This event is actually the beginning of a new era that might just be creating a revolution in the history of cinema not just in India but in the entire world. The credit for this will be given to our very own Telugu man who has come up with this marvel of an idea.
We are talking about director and producer ‘Lakshmanarekha’ Gopalakrishna who is fondly given that title since he came up with that movie giving debut for ‘Sahajanati’ Jayasudha as the leading lady. It was a rather eventful evening for him yesterday when he was awarded the prestigious Pingali Venkayya Award at a function that was held in the presence of many celebrities and eminent personalities of the literary industry.
The place to be was the historic Tyagaraya Gana Sabha in Hyderabad and present during the event were the veteran film maker M S Reddy, Voleti Parvatheesam, a famous TV personality, Pingali Venkayya trust member Smt Jagadamba, noted numerologist Daivagnya Sarma, intellectual Potukutchi Sambasiva Rao and others. The event was organized by the Viswasahithi organization in association with the Pingali Venkayya Trust.
‘Lakshmanarekha’ Gopalakrishna has got a strong link with Pingali Venkayya. Apparently, Pingali was the person who designed the national flag for our great nation and now Gopalakrishna might be creating a new revolution as he has devised a flag for the ‘Global Film Fraternity’ and has been working hard to spread its awareness among the various film circuits. Even many members from the Tollywood circuit have been impressed with the concept and they are trying to do their best to propagate this one.
The flag has already started making its presence felt during the International Film Festivals and few of the big boys of the industry have been pushing the flag at various key points. The concept in itself has been a brilliant thought bringing about the entire film fraternity under one umbrella and Gopalakrishna has designed the colors and wheel in such a way that each aspect of the flag has got a very apt meaning towards films and its heritage.
The list of guests mentioned took their turn to praise this new initiative by ‘Lakshmanarekha’ Gopalakrishna and they were simply in awe of the noble thought he had in bringing about unity globally throughout with this ‘Global Film Flag’. The highlight of the evening came when Voleti garu sang a full length anthem for the flag in Telugu and it is said that the process has already begun to get it dubbed in English and other languages.
The seniors are now proposing that ‘Lakshmanarekha’ Gopalakrishna will now be known as ‘Global’ Gopalakrishna for the creation of his flag and if the initiatives and the movements pick up heat and the message is spread across then it will not be long before the label of ‘Global’ Gopalakrishna will reach the four corners of the world.
It is a moment of pride for all the Telugu folk to encourage and support this new movement and a message to all those members of the film industry to do their bit to ensure that this new and thoughtful creation gets more publicity. It is really commendable to see our Telugu person spearheading such a global movement and we must consider ourselves lucky to be a part of this great movement. Hyderabad resident Lakshmanarekha Gopalakrishna now fondly called ‘Global Gopalakrishna’ can be reached at 001-91-9848387141. NRI Telugus and NRIs in general can feel free to talk to him who is taking the pride of India and Telugus to international level with his ‘Global Film Fraternity’ Flag.
