Having the Vinayaga Chathurthi festival as the backdrop, people were seen thronging the Sri Lakshmi Visa Ganapathy Temple to perform a special yagam and navagraha poojas, which started as early as 4 am.

Many people were present for the special visa poojas at the temple. “I performed homam mainly for visa seekers and I found a major crowd for Vinayaga Chathurthi festival. Unlike other times, people were seen in large number and the place was jam-packed and it is believed that it is more auspicious to perform yagam for Vinayaga on his birthday. Even though the yagam took place in the early morning between 4.30 and 5.30, I was surprised to see a lot of youngsters who actively participated in the poojas” says Ramanatha Shivachaari, priest, Sri Lakshmi Ganapathy Visa Temple.

Says Vishnu Prasanna, an IT developer, “I have already visited the temple nearly four to five times and I felt it will be more auspicious on Vinayaga Chathurthi and it was surprising to see such a crowd for the yagam and pooja.” Another devotee Suguna adds, “My son’s visa got rejected once and after we visited the temple, surprisingly he got his visa and now he is in London and from that time I started visiting the temple regularly.”  However people feel that it is more auspicious to perform their pooja to Vinayaga on Vinayaga Chathurthi rather than other days. Says, Ramanathan, owner of the temple. “Today nearly 40 to 50 people were seen for the homam and most of them were youngsters. People used to come for these poojas but as being special day for lord Ganesha, I found more crowd occupying the place.”
