In any corner of the world, when the word âDemocracyâ is uttered, it involuntarily brings out three phrases of the people, by the people, for the people. Thanks to Abraham Lincoln.
Discussing this in Indian connection as it happens to be the largest democracy under the sky, Indian books on political science grandly claim the sub continent has the âbulkiest constitutionâ. But does the essence of pride understood by every citizen? Whatâs the role of people thatâs literally involved in Democracy? Itâs confined to an indelible INK-DOT on middle finger that appears once in five years if everything goes well (and the dots appear now and then in the name of municipal and MLC elections).
Every peopleâs representative shows humbleness towards his voters, in a relatively better way in first term reciting the phrases of Lincoln mentioned above. But when he is elected for second time, the confidence builds and the phrases start sounding âgovernment of mine, for me and by meâ to him. At that time, the conscience should warn him and people should frequently touch his conscience.
Congress formed the government in 2004 and showed its might till 2009. But things are getting disturbed eventually. Be it the issue of Telangana-Andhra, be it the turmoil of Gurkhaland or Bundelkhand or Vidarbha or Sourashtraâ¦.the confidence of people is stooping down. The ability of handling the things in responsible way is going minuscule. When the opinions were wide spread since last evening that Ambanis were involved in the chopper crash of Ex CM of Andhra Pardesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the people got wild and smashed a few Reliance outlets and offices in AP. Warning Bells rang for Reliance points and fueling stations in Bangalore and places near the AP-Karnataka border. But the government didnât make any responsible statement regarding this so far.
Followed by the death of YSR in AP, the Congress High Command has placed a weak Chief Minister Rosiah who is pulling the cart with Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. Both CM and HM never pumped in required confidence among citizens when the state was burning with Andra-Telangana turmoil. Same repeated even with Ambani-YSR hubbub.
High Command fails to understand that downfall of Congress in AP leads to the downfall of same in Karnataka and Tamilnadu. With the current mayhem in AP, the investment gates were opened by Bangalore and Chennai for IT, Pharma and Realty refugees from Hyderabad. The present DMK and BJP governments in Tamilnadu and Karanataka respectively score points from public in showing development. So, looking at Andhra Pradesh in Neroic fashion is nothing but suicidal act of Congress not just in AP but in entire South India.
Same applies for cases like Ruchika which got hibernated for about 16 years shamefully in Indian Courts!!! Same applies to the wrapped secrets of YSRâs death as the reports havenât come out with concrete comprehensive details.
Itâs not just the case of Congress; keeping the nation or state in single partyâs hand for more than 5 years proves to be a risky affair these days. Parties need to underline this and correct themselves.
