The election jamboree has ended in Seemandhra. After days of canvassing in scorching heat and leveling scathing criticisms against each other, the politicians are back to their ‘normal’ routines.

And the curtains fell on the movie titled ‘Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena’ with the tagline ‘a premature political debut’ after four weeks of collections.

Ever since the polling ended, almost all politicians have been making their presence felt among people. But Pawan Kalyan called off the show the day Seemandhra went to polls.

Gone were his beard, his cotton kurtas and his now famous Hawaii chappal. Just like an actor wipes off the greasepaint once he is off the sets, he shed his political avatar and has reverted to his original role of being the film star.

After criticizing parties that were ‘non-progressive and did not have development on their agenda’, campaigning for the TDP-BJP alliance and after being vehemently criticized by fellow politicians, Pawan Kalyan simply called it a day just like an actor would wrap up the shoot once his call sheets get over.

His changed look for lunch with Chandra Babu Naidu was an indication of the end of one role and beginning of another. All films have an ending and so did Pawan Kalyan’s political film. But his ‘planned’ exit has thrown up a lot of questions. What about people who saw a revolutionary in him? What about people who wanted to follow the leader who spoke of change and promised to question the system?

Great Andhra was first to write about Pawan’s political drama and about his plans to launch a party. We had carried a banner story then which said that Ramoji Rao personally met up with Pawan Kalyan and Ganta Srinivasa Rao to convince them to support Chandra Babu Naidu. We had also said that Pawan Kalyan was about to launch a party. At that time, Pawan was enjoying the success of Gabbar Singh at a 7-star hotel in Hyderabad and did not bother to react to the story. However, since the story also mentioned the name of Naga Babu along with Pawan Kalyan, he officially condemned the story and called it baseless. Incidentally, he also condemned on Pawan’s behalf.

However, as mentioned in our story, Pawan did launch Jana Sena and claimed it was born for people and out of people’s anguish.

Pawan decided to support Chandra Babu Naidu through a party and not as an individual after striking a Rs 500 crore deal. Once Chandra Babu met Pawan Kalyan at his residence, Pawan suddenly saw Babu in a ‘new’ light. Babu was now an experienced politician and architect of modern Hyderabad. So if Pawan really gave up filmi money for people, then how did Babu come into the picture? Well, that is the real deal say political and industry insiders.

Pawan called Jagan a cheat and KCR a dhande-baaz. But his opponents have called Pawan’s political responsibility a farce which was the result of Rs 500 crore deal. (Of course, both parties haven’t shown proofs).

Also, Pawan has all along claimed that he had no money. He said that he was not eyeing any posts. Well, he may not want an RS seat like his brother. What about Potluri Varaprasad who mediated the deal with Babu? Will he not want an RS seat in the corporate quota? And there is Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who will definitely eye the deputy CM’s post for the Kapu community ‘if’ Babu gets voted to power.

On the other hand, if Jagan and KCR get voted to power, Pawan will have to revive Jana Sena to question the ‘wrong doers’.

In films, he often has Che Guevara in the background. But if the ‘corrupt’ forces as he addresses them, come to power, he will have to rise to the occasion. He should be ready to work with many modern-day Che Guevaras who work for people. He should be ready to harness the immense popularity and support he commands for the betterment of people irrespective of party affiliations. If his intentions are pure, then he has to become a people’s leader and walk with Telugu people towards the path of development.
