Great – 11 Wins Virginia Indian Premier League Cup

Virginia Indian Premier League T20 Cricket tournament was held in Richmond, VA from June21 to July20. This was the first hard tennis ball tournament organized in a big scale in Richmond which was sponsored by local businesses like HotBreads, HanuSoft Inc and LogicaTech Inc. The tournament was a huge success among the many cricket fans working in this area. 
 
A total of 10 teams took part in the tournament in which almost all of the games were very thrilling until last ball of each game. Finals were the most exciting match of the Tournament, which was played between teams Great-11 and Kings11. Great11 became the champions of 2008 VAIPL tournament beating Kings11 with 3 runs. The champions were awarded a rolling trophy and prize money.
 
The Great-11 team is donating their prize money to a student in India who got top rank in EAMCET but is unable to join coveted college due to his financial burdens. This was a good gesture from young NRIs to help their people back home. Lets hope that such tournaments be conducted regularly to nurture sporting relationships with other cricket teams and enjoy this sport together. And also teams like Great11 donate prize money to the needy. Way to go Great-11!!
