There is an online site where they sell shirts. They are pretty expensive, but since I have to wear something to work I went to the website and browsed thorough their inventory.
I noticed they had different colors- yellow, pink, orange, white, green etc., I ordered an orange shirt and paid a hefty price. On the shipment day, I received a white shirt. I called the customer service and they said there is no “guarantee” that a customer will get shirt of his favorite color. This is their business model and they can’t change it and they said its called “capitalism”, which didn’t make sense to me from the definition of capitalism I know. In a way I felt like I was cheated, but who cares, I had to take care of my own issues, job, family etc., But I check their site everyday to see how many emails they get from customers like me.
Reality: That was just an example of how our political system in India is functioning now. As we look at it, the biggest majority party (BJP) is an opposition and the Prime Minister is not elected by people. (With all due respect to Mr. Manmohan Singh who was elected to Rajya Sabha).
People tend to vote for a party the seemed to match their ideology, which is paying the price for the shirt of their favorite color. But forming the government at the centre is like my website shipping the shirt of their favorite color.
It’s disgusting to watch news about political parties willing to spend cash to “buy” MP’s to withstand the “vote of confidence”. The more disgusting part was news about analysis on how much it might cost to “buy” an MP or group of “MP’s”.
We have laws to debar an elected Member of Parliament once he changes to different party. What my point is, the political parties should have in their “manifesto” about the parties they will tie up with, to form the government.
This way I vote for a party and then they DONOT form coalition with the party saying “secular/non secular”. The government should have laws to define the coalition.
But this is not possible in the present scenario, as we are marginalized by religion, caste, location, etc., so there are many political outfits and the probability of “one party” forming the government is less. So coalitions are not an issue as long the parties define what other political parties they are and will be forming coalition.
Conclusion: These are good to discuss, but will not have any effect cause the next thing everyone does is to check some other article on how much an MP was paid”â¦(and me taking care of my job, issuesâ¦.). This is not intended to talk about any political party. These are my own opinions.
