Make hay while the sun shines goes a saying and this is what Indian Idol-5 award winner Mynampati Sreeramachandra seems to believe strongly.
Sreeram had already won Rs 50 lakh cash, one-year contract with Sony Music and the chance to sing in Yash Raj films, by virtue of being Indian Idol. The Andhra Pradesh government has honoured him with Lata Mangeshkar award, besides Rs 1 lakh cash. But that has not satisfied Sreeram. He is said to be charging hefty amounts for giving a two-hour musical show, apart from five-star facilities wherever he goes. When some engineering colleges approached him to do a concert for a Inter-university festival in Hyderabad, Sreeram quoted Rs 2.5 lakh for a two-hour show, apart from additional amount for the musical troupe. Besides, he wants executive class airfare from Mumbai (where he is doing the album right now) to Hyderabad and back; and a stay in a five star hotel in Hyderabad, though his parents are staying at Bowenpally. All this is costing another Rs 1 lakh for him.
Poor engineering students had to run for some sponsorer to conduct the show and pay the money for Sreeram. Well, you have to be rich to remain an idol; otherwise, you will be looked down cheaply!
