Last month TANA President Prabhakar Choudary Kakarala wanted to move the Conference to Florida. He tried an end-run around the Governing Board by announcing an extraordinary general body meeting in Atlanta on October 4 where he thought he could get his way. His letter to the members criticizing the Governing Board tested their patience after dealing with his shenanigans for two years. They finally removed him from the presidentship. Kakarala continued to promote the extraordinary general body meeting trying to get his legitimacy.
That meeting finally turned out to be a real damp squib. After all this hungama, there were may be about a 80 people in that meeting. Most of the people that attended were out of town guys that were suing TANA or people who lost in the TANA elections and trying to split the organization. They couldnât even get 40 regular TANA members from Atlanta to attend the meeting even though two of Ravi Madalaâs key organizers Srinivas Lavu and Ranakumar Nadella live there. The organizers ordered food for 400 people and a large amount of food was wasted.
The speakers at the meeting did not focus on all those big issues that were mentioned in Kakaralaâs emails, but showed their true colors by talking only about a few individuals they donât like. And the tamasha continued with these 100 people passing resolutions about reinstating Kakarala and removing the Governing Board. They also announced a Conference in Florida with Ravi Madala as the coordinator. What a surprise! Looks like Kakarala finally kept his word to his friend. Who cares if he damaged a strong organization in the process!
TANA is a big organization with almost 35, 000 members. How Kakarala thought that he could control the organization against an elected Governing Board when he couldnât even get 100 neutral people to attend a meeting in one of the largest cities in USA shows how out of touch he is and what a joke he has become. We hope he will come to his senses after this flop show and he and his supporters come back to the unity path.
