By now most of you know that the capital of Andhra Pradesh is “Near” Vijayawada. The suspense has paved way to the long pending decision.
The decision made by the same set of over enthusiasts of lawmakers, the very set of people responsible for providing their consent that “we approve the division of the state”. That was history. We have gone past that phase and people have reconciled to the fact that the inevitable has happened.
But let’s stop and pause here for a moment. When the people of Andhra Pradesh are licking their wounds, here comes a fresh wound but this time with their beloved leader.
A leader who proclaims the capital will be built with the likes of Singapore. Many of you would agree when I say, our state was and is used to bearing the “Committees”. We had Fazal Ali commission in the past, then came Srikrishna committee and eventually Sivaramakrishnan committee. While the more recent committees Srikrishna and Sivaramakrishnan had contrary responsibilities the net result was both recommendations were eventually ignored and trashed!
Could someone make us understand the intent behind constituting a committee, empowering them, utilizing their services, providing them with artifacts wherever they go and in the process wasting the public money for nothing? In the name of constituting a committee, the ulterior motive of these so called leaders is to divert people’s attention.
As the attention is dissuaded, they would acquire the prime lands where THEY intend to setup the capital. Yes it’s them who get to choose where the capital shall be. So why this superfluous gestures.
If the committee has clearly and dearly suggested NO to Vijayawada then why did the first CM of Andhra Pradesh (less Telangana) go about choosing it as the capital? Is there more to what meets a human eye? Is he going about satisfying a particular section of people who appear power mongers in the region (and mind you I am not dragging casteism here)? In the process a fertile land otherwise utilized for agriculture will be wasted and the zealous establishments will mark where once greenery existed. If a city like Visakhapatnam that has better infrastructure facilities, airport, ports railway lines can be ignored then we are bound to believe there are concealed secrets that the government has, and is free to assume that this government isn’t willing to work for the welfare of the people, but is working towards satisfying their self-interests, and ultimately we are back to square-one!
A humble requests goes to these lawmakers to respect the findings of the committees they appoint. After all they expect us to abide by the laws they make, so why should they be any different!
