Karimnagar: A medico from Andhra Pradesh, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Pennsylvania in the US, apparently committed suicide, police claimed on Tuesday after earlier reports said he had been murdered.
The body of Akkaldevi Srinivas (29), hailing from Korutla in Karimnagar district, was found in a pool of blood with stab wounds to his neck on Saturday last, according to a friend in the Scranton State University where he was pursuing a post-graduation course in Internal Medicine.
Preliminary findings by the police pointed to suicide, police sources said without giving details. The sources said a suicide note had been found.
An MBBS student of 1995 batch of Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, Srinivas joined Scranton State University in 2005 after completing his MS. He went to the US in 2002.
The victim’s father left for the US to bring the body after the family received the shocking news on Sunday.
