Telugu Forum of Utah organized New Year and Sankranthi Vedukalu on January 5th 2008, at an LDS church in Salt Lake city, Utah.


The Program was attended by about 220 people and it was a spellbound success. The event was kicked off with kids fancy dresses. All the kids were dressed in traditional Telugu attire. Some of them were Haridasu, Gagireddula vadu, Narada Maharshi, Enki, Nayudu bava, Buttabomma, Pellikuthuru.


A group dance on gobbemmalu & sankranthi was performed by girls under the age of six, A group song from movie Chenchu Lakshmi “Chettulekkagalava oh Narahari” was rendered by kids under the age of 10. Solo songs and dances by kids were a delight to watch on the stage. Kids programs were followed by adults dances and songs. Audience were thoroughly entertained for the entire duration of the program.


Cooking, Vegetable carving, kids painting, Table tennis and Carroms competitions were conducted which attracted huge participation from local talent.  The traditional wear competition for women was another jewel in the crown.


Program concluded with sumptuous traditional sankranthi dinner.
