As many of you aware, Paalamoor NRIs have ventured into Paalamoor Day concept and celebrated 22nd April 2008 with special emphasis on Weavers issues. As many of you know, weaver community across AP in general and Palamoore in particular have been going through severe hardship in making a decent livelihood by selling the weaved products.But they are unable to meet thier needs and resulting in continous suicide news everyday.
We NRIs were ahead of all political parties to see the weavers issue by at least a year and trying to help the weaver community by providing/ creating channels by all or any means.
Paalmoor NRIs in the coordination of Vijay Chavva,during Paalamoor day have called all parties to discuss weavers problem and requested all political parties , Govt Agencies, Depts and Professional Organizations to wear only Khadi products on every saturday of the week and support Khadi Industry. AP govt also realeased a GO with regard to this couple years back, but there seems to be no much enthisiasm to implement it.
We Paalamoor NRIs have been continuosly putting efforts on this issue by continuing visits by NRIs to the district to stress on implementation of GO and creating aware ness in the public through Media and other channels.
Now all political parties are talking about the weavers issues, but we knew about the severity of the issue a year ago and trying to help through whatever means that would be appropriate.
As an attempt,Firstly Paalamoor NRIs have called a day as Khadi day during ATA program in Newark in New Jersey where thay have requested all participants to wear Khadi on July5th. In Subsequent development they have also requested TANA organizers to declare a day during next TANA conference 2009 as Khadi day and requested all participants to wear Khadi to show solidarity to this industry in India.
When we celebrated Paalamoor day, some weavers have approached us requesting for marketing help of world known Gadwal Pattu Sarees, Narayan Pet Cotton etc and we promised to help.
Now we have taken a step ahead by providing a web based marketing channel for Paalamoor weavers products on a voluntary serice basis.
Now after sincere efforts and committed hard work from many number of volunteers who put in significant amount of time , energy and money…we have decided to unfurl
