American Telugu Association ( ATA ) is planning to celebrate Third ATA Vedukalu in Andhra Pradesh from December 22nd to 30th under the leadership of ATA president, Chandra Reddy Gavva, President Elect Jithender Reddy, International Coordinator Harinath Policherla and Overseas Coordinators V.S. Reddy and Narotham Reddy. Several prominent local leaders and several NRI families have pledged their support and taking an active role in these celebrations.
Aim of this event is to have continued presence, connectivity, and communication between people of Andhra Pradesh and USA, to keep our Telugu culture and heritage intact. One of the ATAâs primary objectives is our firm commitment to service to the disadvantaged and disfranchised people of Andhra Pradesh and it is a mission that has been undertaken with utmost solemnity.
Celebrations will be held at Nellore on December 24, Suryapet on December 27th followed by 3 days activities in Ravindrabharathi and Taj Krishna, Hyderabad from December 28th to 30th.
Several cultural and community activities are planned :
- Sahiti Sabha
- Telugu Bhasha/Telugu Prabhavam(Past, Present and Future)
- ATA Youth and Local Talent Cultural Programs.
- Songs and Dances.
- Presentation of community service and other awards
Efforts have also been made to adopt at least one village from each region (Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema) under the banner âGRAMANNI SAKUKONDI â MATRUBHOOMINI ADUKONDIâ ( adopt a village â support your motherland ) program and do a charitable project to serve the needy people and be self sustainable in the village. In the last few years, ATA has focused its efforts on many projects including Health Education to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS, Fluorosis prevention projects and providing scholarship opportunities through âVIDYADANAMâ for underprivileged students, medical aids and other works meant to provide goods and resources for those who need help the most. In addition, ATA will also be conducting Continuing Medical Education Course (CME), Business Seminar and Women and Youth forums, and debates on Telugu language/literature.
