Reader Opinion: An Open letter to Raja Sekhar

Hi Raja Sekhar garu,

I feel you are a very good actor and I liked your performances in some movies such as pratighaTana, Ahuti, ankuSam, chennApaTnam chinnOLLu (one of my all-time favorite comedy movies because of Chandra Mohan acting), Station Master etc.

As a bystander, I am responding to the recent pandemoniac havoc that you started (knowingly or unknowingly) with some provocative statements on Chiru’s political entry. First of all, you should have remembered that you are a film celebrity and should have contained yourself, no matter how badly the media forces you to speak out your candid opinions on Chiru’s polical entry. It seemed to us that you wanted to take an advantage of the point that every Indian citizen has a right to “talk”, when you wanted to speak out your comments. But being a film celebrity, you can not talk like common citizens in the public…your words will carefully be considered by each and every one. It certainly seems to be your immaturity in the first place to speak out such damaging words on a fellow Telugu star.. We have earlier seen a lot of professional rivalry between stars (NTR-ANR, NTR-Krishna, Krishna-Sobhan Babu, Krishna-Chiru, Chiru-Balayya), but none of them never ever spoke even a single word against the other star in the public. Unfortunately a few people like Mohan Babu and yourself have started this nasty game in the recent times.

You all (in the Telugu film industry) know very well how easily Nandamuri and Mega fans can be provoked with some damaging statements on thier demi-gods. If you take any popular Telugu star, you will see a collection of well-behaved as well as easily-provokable fans for them and Chiru is no way is an exception. I strongly condemn the attack on your family in Hyderabad. But when you learnt that Chiru fans were really upset with you in Guntur, why did you not take enough precautions (at least for your family sake, if you really love them and want to protect them), when you got down in the Secunderabad railway station? Say, you could have waited in the Railway station until the morning and made some special arrrangements with the Police protection or so. What made you ignore the seriousness in that kind of situation? In this era of the cell phones, Hyd Chiru fans could have easily been initmated with in minutes about your arrival in Hyd.. when you got down in the raiway station, you should have realized what kind of trouble you have invited with your thoughtless statements (you may say that it is a bold and candid opinion of yours and you have every right to talk so). Don’t you think your temerity ended your family up in that predicament?

Once you were chased down by the “so called” mega fans, you should have still contained your anger during post-attack episode. You again showed your indignation against Chiru by a statement “Chiranjeevi gAru.. are you happy now?”. Chirus has millions of fans and how can he control all of them and how can he be responsible for the attack and that too during the time, when he is seriously thinking of floating a political party? On the other hand your wife seemed to be very balanced during that attack time and did not give any provocative statements, but she spoke her heart out with all the bold statements in the front of the media later. That shows that she handled the situation better than you did 🙂

Every one knows these days how badly Chiru is being chased down by the leading political parties with an intention to botch up the Chiru’s political entry. What is the guarranty that they are the genuine mega fans? Just because they shout “Mega star zindaabaad and Raja Sekhar down… down”, you can not assume them to be true mega fans. One should realize that stars like NTR and Chiru have a wide gamut of fans (ranging from the illiterates to the scientists) and you can just can not generalize that all Chiru fans are such attacking fanatical people.

One more thing I want to bring to your attention is your lament on the way Chiru camp took away the Tamil “Ramana” rights to make”Tagore” movie. Well, this is a competitive cine field.. Mohan Babu, with the help of Rajani Kanth did it in the case of Pedda rAyuDu movie (I recently read from an interview by KVV Sathyanarayana or some other such small time producer, who was actually supposed to get the remake rights of the original Tamil version of pedda rAyuDu). antenduku… you yourself forcefully snatched the hero role from Srikanth in the vETagADu movie (a lousy copy of bazeegar), as per the movie producer/director, Thammareddy Bharadwaja.  If you truely have any successes, no one can stop your popularity..

Thanks for listening to me.

Jai Hind!
