Sex-Appeal Beyond ‘Navels’ And ‘Cleavages’?

There was a time when the slight revelation of a navel on the screen would play the strings in any man’s heart and even a covered glimpse of cleavage was enough to give sleepless nights for a long time. But now, the equations have changed and here is one naked truth that everyone has got used to.
 
Apparently, there has been so much of navel and cleavage show in movies these days that a film without such a scene would cause a greater curiosity and surprise. The point is these are the two major beauty points for a woman and now that they are being shown fully and freely what is the next one on the menu.
 
While the censors still rule the roost when it comes to revealing and exposure, the fatigue point has set in for the audience who have got used to the navel and cleavage shows and now are looking at something more spicy. On the other hand, the essence of a woman’s beauty has been lost in the overdose of skin show.
 
Although not a new way, the novel ways of exploring woman’s beauty is through bikinis and two-piece in particular. Still the sensuous angle misses out in that ‘revealing’. Top heroines like Nayantara and Anushka are also coming forward with skimpy 2-piece outfits. Some western music albums have started showing a new angle of beauty and that is the cleavage at the back. But that is not yet accepted as a sensuous ‘exposure’ in Indian context. On the other hand, the girls among general public are wearing low hip jeans to such an extent that a mere ‘bend’ results in the revealing of cleavage in the back. That may raise interest among the on lookers especially young ones, but once that is shown on silver screen, censor may look at that as vulgarity.
 
Directors should think about the sensuous way of projecting woman’s beauty than depending on mere ‘revealing’.
