Think optimistic. Take things as they come. Learn to accept the truth with your conscience although denial hits you initially. Science of Medicine says that people go through the process of DABDA when they lose something or someone they love.

D- Denial
A- Angry
B- Bargaining
D- Depression
A- Acceptance

When we lose someone or something which we love, initially we cannot accept the truth. We hold the porch of denial saying ‘I don’t believe’. Then we get into ‘Anger’ and curse god or fate, ‘Why did you do this to me’. Then we tend to do bargaining asking the fate or God, ‘Give me back what you have taken away’. Obviously we hear nothing but silence. Then depression hits us, ‘Why should I live when I lost my love’. This stage is crucial. One shouldn’t take any hasty decisions here. And as the time cools down this heat of depression, the shower of ‘Acceptance’ fall on us. The life goes on.

Let us conclude this by recalling the famous response of world renowned basket ball player Michael Johnson. When the news that he was affected with HIV Positive was broke down, millions of his fans sent messages for him with heaps of condolences. Some of them were poems, some were essays and some were huge articles. He read many of them but couldn’t respond to any. And there was one message that caught his attention out of those.

The message read like this: “I curse God for giving Aids to Michael Johnson. He would have given that for any other one in the 4-billion-population of this globe. God is a fool”. That’s the message from a fan who wrote out of his overflowing love.

Johnson replied for that, writing, “I thank God for making Michael Johnson a great player. He would have made any other one from the 4-billion-population of this Globe. God is great”.

That’s the spirit of optimism. When you see brighter side of life, you can never feel darkness. God gives many things for us which we don’t expect or anticipate. He also takes away from us whatever he wants without taking our permission. When we lose something, we get into grief. But just wait to see a ray of happiness which is reserved for us by God.  Leap into Leap year-2008 with Optimism. Try to throw light on the darker sides of your lives. God gives at least a match stick if not a flood-light to kill darkness in our heart.
