According to police, a 2008 Chrysler minivan, driven by Robert Pennington of Marlboro, was traveling south bound on Route 34 in the area of East Lawn Drive at approximately 11:40 p.m. on December 5 when it struck a separate vehicle.

A 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by Siva Kovvuri, age 32 of Parlin, was traveling north bound on Route 34 when both vehicles collided. Kovvuri sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead by responding emergency personnel at the scene, according to Holmdel Police Lt. Michael Smith.

Smith said Kovvuri was driving north on Route 34 in a 2008 Hyundai Accent when a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Robert Pennington, 50, of Marlboro, crashed into him from the southbound lane.

When Pennington failed to properly navigate a slight right curve, he crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with Kovvuri’s car at 11:43 p.m. on Friday, said Charlie Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
