Hollywood actor John Cusack has expressed support for student protests against alleged irregularities and paper leaks in the NEET examination.
The protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar were led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), with students demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and action over alleged failures in the examination system.
Cusack, known for films such as Serendipity, High Fidelity, Con Air and 2012, shared an article by activist and author Arundhati Roy on X.
In the article, Roy criticised the authorities for allegedly using excessive force against students during their march towards Parliament earlier this week.
“Beautiful news from my favourite fellow cockroach,” Cusack wrote while sharing the article.
The actor has frequently commented on political and social developments in India.
On Monday, police acted against thousands of protesters, most of them students, who had gathered in the national capital following a “Chalo Sansad” call.
The protesters demanded Pradhan’s resignation and raised concerns over alleged paper leaks and irregularities in competitive examinations, particularly NEET.
This is not the first time Cusack has supported student protests in India.
In 2019, he backed students protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act and criticised the police action against students at Jamia Millia Islamia University.
