St. Louis, Missouri: In an extraordinary celebration of faith, Vedic tradition, and community spirit, the Hindu Temple of St. Louis (HTSTL) successfully concluded the historic Nava Kundathmaka Shatha Chandi Sahitha Rudra Mahayajna, one of the largest and most spiritually significant Vedic celebrations ever organized in North America.
Conducted over six days for Lokakshema (universal welfare), world peace, the preservation of Sanatana Dharma, and the health, prosperity, and well-being of all humanity, the Mahayajna attracted thousands of devotees from across the United States, transforming the temple into a vibrant center of devotion, spirituality, and divine energy.
For six consecutive days, the temple resonated with the sacred chanting of Vedic mantras as eminent Vedic scholars performed Gomata Puja, Mahanyasa Parayanam, Rudra Homam, Chandi Homam, Varahi Homam, Aruna Homam, Raja Shyamala Homam, and numerous other sacred rituals across the nine yajna kundas.
The atmosphere was filled with divine vibrations, creating an unforgettable spiritual experience for devotees of all ages.
One of the most memorable highlights of the Mahayajna was the Dasa Sahasra Modaka Homam, during which temple volunteers lovingly prepared and offered 10,000 Modakas, the favorite offering of Lord Ganesha. The offering reflected the devotion and selfless service of hundreds of volunteers and became one of the most inspiring moments of the entire celebration.
Another extraordinary feature of the Mahayajna was the Dasa Sahasra Kamala Archana, where 1000 lotus flowers and 10,000 sacred seeds were offered with great devotion to the Divine Mother. These rare Vedic rituals, symbolizing prosperity, abundance, and universal well-being, left devotees spiritually overwhelmed and are seldom witnessed outside India.
The Mahayajna also witnessed the grand Samoohika Kumkumarchana, where more than 1,000 women gathered in devotion to offer Kumkum to the Divine Mother while praying for the well-being of their families, universal peace, and prosperity. The sight of hundreds of women worshipping together created a truly divine atmosphere and became one of the most cherished moments of the six-day celebration.
Another spiritually uplifting highlight was the Samoohika Rudrabhishekam, where hundreds of devotees collectively performed the sacred Abhishekam to Lord Shiva amidst the chanting of Sri Rudram and Chamakam by Vedic scholars. Sponsors who had undertaken the yajna sankalpam ceremonially carried the sanctified Kalashas in a grand procession around the yajna venue. Devotees observing the yajna deeksha also received the traditional Avabhrutha Snanam, performed according to Vedic scriptures. The concluding rituals included Shiva Abhishekam, Archana, Mantrapushpam, and continuous Vedic chanting.
As the sacred Purnahuti was offered into the yajna fire, a gentle rainfall unexpectedly blessed the temple premises. Devotees and Vedic scholars alike regarded the rain as an auspicious sign of divine grace, symbolizing the successful completion and acceptance of the Mahayajna by the Divine. The inspiring spiritual discourse delivered by the Vedic scholars deeply moved the gathering and elevated the devotional atmosphere.
The celebrations reached another historic milestone with the spectacular Shat Kalyana Mahotsavam, held on a magnificent 90-foot stage specially erected in front of the temple’s Dwajasthambam. For the first time, six celestial weddings were performed simultaneously on a single stage:

- Sri Sita-Rama Kalyanam
- Sri Valli Devasena Sametha Subrahmanyeswara Swamy Kalyanam
- Sri Shiva-Parvathi Kalyanam
- Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Kalyanam
- Sri Venkateswara Swamy Kalyanam
Thousands of devotees gathered to witness this breathtaking spectacle, with many remarking that “Two eyes are simply not enough to behold such divine grandeur.” The ceremony became one of the most unforgettable milestones in the history of the Hindu Temple of St. Louis. Vedic scholars later explained the profound spiritual significance of each divine wedding and blessed the assembled devotees.
The Mahayajna also showcased an extraordinary example of volunteerism and community participation.
Hundreds of volunteers dedicated months of planning and countless hours of selfless service through various committees, including pooja arrangements, hospitality, decorations, food service, transportation, security, media, logistics, publications, cultural activities, and devotee assistance. One of the most remarkable achievements of the event was the preparation and serving of nearly 25,000 Mahaprasadam meals over six days. Under the leadership of Food Committee Chairmen Rajesh Evuri and Satish Lanka, together with hundreds of dedicated volunteers, devotees experienced exceptional hospitality and seamless food service, making it another defining success of the Mahayajna.
At the successful conclusion of the Mahayajna, the temple management honored the Vedic scholars for their dedicated service and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the committee chairs, volunteers, sponsors, temple staff, and countless service teams whose tireless efforts made the event an overwhelming success.
