Oracle is reportedly preparing for another round of layoffs this month as the technology giant looks to reduce payroll costs while continuing to spend heavily on artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to a report by Business Insider, Oracle has asked managers to identify employees who could be affected by the latest job cuts.
The layoffs are expected to take place before the company’s second fiscal quarter begins on September 1. Some teams could reportedly see reductions in double-digit percentages.
The latest move comes after a major workforce reduction earlier this year.
Business Insider reported that Oracle’s workforce fell by around 21,000 employees during fiscal 2026, representing roughly 13% of its total workforce. The company is now said to have about 141,000 employees.
The fresh job-cut reports come at a time when Oracle is making massive investments in AI infrastructure.
The company reportedly spent $55.7 billion in fiscal 2026 on AI-related infrastructure and borrowed around $43 billion to support those investments. Oracle is also planning to raise another $40 billion through debt and equity during the current fiscal year.
Despite the heavy spending, demand for Oracle’s cloud business remains strong, driven by growing demand for AI computing capacity.
However, the scale of the company’s investment programme has also raised concerns among investors, with Oracle shares coming under pressure this year.
Oracle has not officially confirmed the latest round of reported layoffs.
A Reuters report published in June said Oracle spent $1.84 billion on severance and other restructuring-related costs in fiscal 2026, sharply higher than the $374 million spent in the previous fiscal year.
If the latest cuts go ahead, they would mark another major restructuring move by Oracle as the company tries to balance aggressive AI spending with tighter control over operating costs.
