Barron Trump, the 20-year-old son of US President Donald Trump, is reportedly leading an increasingly private and reclusive life amid heightened security concerns surrounding his family.
According to The New York Post, Trump’s youngest son has largely stayed out of public view while completing his sophomore year at New York University. He reportedly spent much of the summer with his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
“He doesn’t go out,” one source told the publication, while another described Barron as “pretty reclusive.”
Sources said Barron prefers to avoid public attention and tends to move quickly between secure, private locations rather than spending time in public.
The report also said Barron had grown close to conservative activist Charlie Kirk and was deeply affected by Kirk’s assassination. According to the publication, Barron called his father after hearing the news and reportedly told him, “This is what happens when you go out there.”
Melania Trump’s office has also urged media outlets to respect Barron’s privacy, particularly in light of recent threats.
The First Lady has long been protective of her son and supportive of his desire to remain away from the spotlight.
When Donald Trump’s first presidential term ended and Barron was set to lose his Secret Service protection, Melania’s office reportedly requested an extension of his security detail from the Biden administration. The request was approved.
In Melania Trump’s documentary, filmed during preparations for the January 2025 inauguration, she was heard telling Secret Service agents that Barron was unlikely to participate in public activities, adding that she respected his decision.
Security concerns surrounding Barron have intensified further following reports of threats from Iranian state-linked media.
Earlier this week, Iranian state television reportedly aired a segment discussing Barron’s movements and offering a $10 million reward in connection with threats against him. The video, attributed to IRGC-linked media, allegedly contained details about his movements and claimed he was being closely monitored.
A previous broadcast had also reportedly included threats directed at Melania Trump before shifting its focus to Barron.
The US Secret Service said it was aware of the video and that it investigates anything that could be perceived as a threat against people under its protection.
However, Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei later denied reports of any plan to assassinate Barron Trump, calling such claims false in an interview broadcast by Lebanon’s Al Manar TV.
With repeated threats surrounding the Trump family and the heightened security environment, Barron appears to have chosen to remain largely out of public view and maintain as private a life as possible.
