TANA Bank Accounts Compromised? We have confidentially learned that Mr. Prabhakara Chowdary Kakarala approached banks where TANA maintains its reserves and tried to withdraw money. Though the exact count can’t be confirmed, money at least in five figures has been withdrawn from one of TANA accounts. Prior to the removal of Mr. Kakarala from the TANA board, based on the September 21st meeting minutes posted at TANA website, the board has revoked President’s check power. It is truly surprising that TANA didn’t put adequate measures on its accounts after passing the resolution and even after knowing the resolutions made by Mr. Kakarala and his friends group in Atlanta recently. In US, unauthorized access of funds is treated as federal crime. Since Mr. Kakarala is a CPA, may be the board thought that he wouldn’t violate the law knowingly. This incident opens doors for the board members, who either stayed neutral or voted against the removal of Mr. Kakarala, to change their views now. This particular event may have adverse effect on the uphill battle waged by Mr. Kakarala and his friends group to regain the lost power.
Feelings of TANA General Body: On the other hand, several TANA members are complaining that they have not received any communication from Mr. Kakarala about the extra ordinary general body meeting that he called for. Even though the exact count is unknown, the number of members without valid email address would be in several thousands. All these thousands of members have potentially not received the email invite sent by Mr. Kakarala. Some of these disgruntled members are calling the Atlanta meeting as a mere private party and not official by any counts. They are also complaining that it is unfair of Mr. Kakarala to compromise the fundamental right of thousands of members for his personal benefit and wouldn’t discard the option of a class action lawsuit against the validity of the proposals made in Atlanta.
General Views on Florida Conference: Leaving all these alone, the proposed conference by Mr. Kakarala and his friend’s group in Florida is also receiving serious criticism. Initially TANA proposed the conference in Florida. Lot of Floridians viewed Mr. Kakarala’s group as go getters. Later, Mr. Kakarala marched north and officially announced Chicago as the new venue. In this process, Mr. Kakarala negotiated his friends several positions in Chicago Conference. Majority of the Floridans were apparently not consulted before the move and the count of Floridians who got positions in Chicago Conference is also very minimal. Later when these positions were revoked (for not honoring the law-suit withdrawal request), Mr. Kakarala and his friends changed gears, retreated to south via Atlanta and started singing Florida tune again. In this process, some Floridians got disappointed and are thinking that they were taken for granted. Meanwhile, TANA has gained the support of several key members from Orlando area for the TANA conference in Chicago. Reviewing this sequence of events, it is doubtful that Mr. Kakarala and his friends group will enjoy the same unilateral support they were enjoying in Florida before. They have lot of convincing work to do to regain the support and confidence in the Florida region.
Will TANA Leadership survive the test? All this may be sounding beneficial to TANA legally and politically, but is seriously challenged with two primary tasks. One is the success of Chicago TANA Conference and the other is regaining the member confidence. Chicago has conducted one of the best conferences ever in the history of TANA in 1995. This community has strong experienced leaders and youth with bubbling energy. All resourced used well; it is not a difficult task for them to deliver another good TANA conference in July 2009. One benefit that came out of this conflict in favor of TANA is the determination amongst the board members to restore the damaged image and strong resolve to put TANA on progressive path. They have only 10 months to clean up the mess and Mr. Kakarala will be a continuous distraction. The TANA Governing Board is in a tight spot and must deliver. Will they ?
