For past several years, in the name of Chaitanya Sravanthi, Telugu Association of North America is conducting several events to promote language and folk arts in Andhra Pradesh.


This year, these events will be conducted in December from 20th thru 27th in various prominent places in Andhra Pradesh. TANA Interim President Mr. Jayaram Komati, provided the event details through this press release.


In partnership with Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, on 20th and 21st, TANA will conduct Folk Art Festival in Eluru. Approximately 300 Folk Artists will demonstrate various Folk Art forms in this event. Intellectual discussion forums on folk art will be organized here as well.


TANA will award life time achievement awards for two well deserved individuals who contributed significant services to the Telugu Folk Art.


To help the street children by providing education, shelter and other needs, TANA has built a child rescue center in the heart of Vijayawada City. To boost the moral support to the resident children and to demonstrate their talent, TANA is organizing a cultural event in Vijayawada on 22nd. Same day, TANA will organize a mega medical camp in Gollapudi.


On the occasion of 600th Annamacharya Jayanthi, TANA is conducting celebrations in Tallapaka on 24th. TANA and Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam’s (TTD) will jointly conduct this event.


For several years, many organizations and Telugus have demanded “Classical Language Status” for Telugu Language. In 2006, to support this demand, TANA has conducted public events in several districts. After conducting a conclusive event in Hyderabad, TANA delegates submitted a memorandum to the Central Govt. Cultural Minister as well. To recognize the hard work of all these organizations and individuals, TANA will conduct a mega Telugu event on December 27th in Ravindra Bharathi. PSR Telugu University and various other renowned organizations will take part in this event. During this event, TANA will present their prestigious “Gidugu Rama Murthy Award” to the individual who has provided significant services to the Telugu Language. In addition, the awardee will receive 50,000 Rs cash too.


TANA is also planning for a special event in Hyderabad to promote the skills of handicapped artists. Along with prominent people from Andhra Pradesh, TANA delegates will grace these events.


TANA Cultural Committee representatives, Mr. Gedala Damu and Smt. Saroja Sagaram, reported that the event arrangements are progressing satisfactorily and requested every one to attend these events and make them a grand success.
