Dallas, TX: TANA (interim) President Jayaram Komati and Secretary Prasad Thotakura in a joint statement on behalf of TANA members welcomed the good news of the Central Government of India finally conferring the “Ancient Language” status to our mother tongue Telugu. This is a valuable to gift to Telugus all over the world on the eve of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day, November 1st. The collective effort of several individuals, non-profit organizations and political parties finally paid off. The key role played by Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University, Official Language Commission and Classical Language Task Force committee in attaining this status is highly commendable. TANA thanked the AP State Government for its untiring efforts to get this Ancient Language status to our beloved language Telugu
TANA’s sincere efforts of rallying for this cause in several districts and in Hyderabad in 2007, arranging a special meeting at Ravindra Bharati attended by both CM Raja Sekhara Reddy, opposition leader Chandra Babu Naidu and getting assurances from both of them to work towards this objective, a special TANA delegation to New Delhi to meet with the Ministry of Cultural and Tourism is applauded by one and all.
In USA, TANA is instrumental in introducing Telugu courses at University of Michigan and University of Texas, Austin. Several other non-profit organizations along with TANA in USA are taking so much interest to teach Telugu to younger generation. Now, it is all our responsibility to ensure that Telugu is protected and propagated by encouraging children to learn Telugu since childhood at homes and schools.
