As we already know, on 11/22/2008, TANA EC Members, and Law Suit Plaintiffs etc. are meeting in Detroit to work out a compromise. Naturally these gentlemen would express their perspective. Let us introduce TANA as the third party, which will express its perspective in the upcoming Compromise Meeting? If so, What would TANA say?
I am TANA and welcome to you all. Before we begin the discussions, I want to help you identify who is critical to this discussion. The rule is, we shouldn’t discuss about the absentees. Assume for a moment that I am absent and tell me if you can continue this discussion. Probably the answer is no. We all need each other; more importantly, we all need me (TANA). Once I am ruined and am not there, nothing matters any more. So, help me survive, thus help many Telugu People in United States, to whom I mean a lot. I would like to put forward a proposal for each of your issues.
Law Suit:
In the name of law suit, I am bleeding every day thousands of dollars. You might be millionaires and can spend as much money as you want. I am not as rich as you are. Every year I have to go to my membership family and ask them for donations, so that I can run simple routine tasks such as communicating with members regularly; help the people in emergency etc. So, kindly withdraw the law suit, as it is hurting me very badly. Here is what I can offer you in return.
1. Membership Verification: I can get it done by a third party (or) by a committee which consists of members that you all trust. Let the elections be taken place based on the list which comes out through this verification process.
2. Tax Documents: Not only you, but every member has the right to request these documents. However, you need to understand that some documents might not be readily available, as I don’t have a permanent home and am moved from place to place every two years. In this process some documents might have been misplaced or lost. So, be considerate in what you are asking and what you are getting. If possible, please help me find a permanent home, so that I can do the business in more organized fashion.
3. Reverting By-Laws: From the time the by-laws were changed, several successful conferences were conducted in my name. Also, since I am a democratic organization, I want majority of the people to make important decisions, instead of just one. After all, all the executive committee members, who look after me, were elected by considering majority’s opinion any way.
4. Also, please promise to me that you won’t hurt me in the future by bringing more such law suits. It may benefit your feelings, but will hurt me and my membership family very badly.
Conference:
I was made responsible for $ 162,000 liabilities in Florida and another few hundred thousand dollars liabilities in Chicago. Whether I go to Florida (or) Chicago, I have to loose money anyway. So, here is what I suggest you do.
I will go to the place where penalties are less, progress was made and has the team which is more experienced in pulling together a conference given the short period of time and the current state of affairs. This will make me feel financially strong and organizationally sound. The following weekend, I will go to the other place for a one and half day event. I will bring all entertainers along with me. If that isa profitable event, I can use it towards offsetting some of the liability. Hopefully if I go to the place even after a week, the conference center may consider reducing the liabilities too. More over, this would help me entertain more Telugu People across united states.
2007 Executive Committee:
Who ever got elected in 2007 elections will safeguard me until 2009 July. After that, the duly and newly elected committee will look after me. My only request is, the by-laws are the rules to be observed while safe guarding me. Kindly follow those. If you don’t, it will only ruin me. Please remember that once the term is over, some EC members will move on. Very rarely I see them coming back and do the same level of service. So, it is me who has to struggle again to serve the future generations. Time lost is opportunity lost.
My Advice:
I gave an opportunity to you all to fight in the elections and demonstrate your strength. After the elections are over, just help those elected to safe guard me well and wait until the next elections to fight again. Instead fighting in between elections, use that time and money wisely to promote me. It would get you the required positive visibility and will help you in the next elections.
You are all human beings and have good feelings such as love, patience, help etc and bad feelings such as hatred, ego, selfishness etc. Kindly don’t use me to demonstrate your bad feelings. Shower me with your good feelings. What ever the feelings you show on me, please remember that they will affect my trusted membership family.
