The announcement of best actor award for former union minister and veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao for his role in the film âMestriâ has shocked the fan club of upcoming hero Ramcharan Teja, son of megastar and Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi.
PRP cadres across the state have lodged protests over the Nandi awards committeeâs decision to give the award to Dasari, while ignoring the talent of Ramcharan Teja in the film Magadheera. They are arguing that Dasariâs film was a mega flop, whereas Magadheera was a mega hit. âThe committee has to take into consideration the peopleâs mandate as was evident from the way Magadheera has run in some theatres for over a year, whereas Mestri was rejected by the people. Secondly, nobody could match the performance of Ramcharan Teja in Magadheera, especially at the time of fighting 100 warriors,â a PRP leader remarked.
But critics question whether Magadheera was hit because of its technical brilliance or Ramcharanâs action. Though it was a hero-oriented film, the credit should go to the director, art director and graphics artiste, but definitely not Ramcharan Teja, because he still looks amateur in acting as well as dialogue delivery. So, they doubt whether he really deserve best actor award, though Dasari might not justify the same.
