Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have registered a case over the objectionable deepfake videos created by morphing clips from the Chuttamalle song in Devara, featuring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor.
The videos, reportedly created using artificial intelligence, were circulated widely on social media and triggered strong criticism.
Soon after the video went viral, Jr NTR reacted strongly and warned that those responsible for creating and spreading such content would not be spared. Several film personalities later extended their support to him and condemned the misuse of AI.
Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Pothineni, Kalyan Ram and several other celebrities spoke against the deepfake video and called for stronger action against such digital abuse.
Following the controversy, Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police registered a case and began investigating the source of the video. Police are reportedly trying to identify who created the deepfake and from where it was first circulated.
There is also speculation on social media that the video may have originated from a social media team allegedly linked to a senior political leader. However, there is no official confirmation of this claim so far, and the police investigation is expected to establish the facts.
Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor has also responded to the controversy.
She thanked the Telugu film industry actors who stood by her and spoke out against the objectionable content.
Questioning the need for women to repeatedly demand basic dignity, Janhvi reportedly asked whether it was wrong to expect a woman to be treated simply as a human being and given basic respect.
The case has once again brought attention to the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create deepfake and morphed content, particularly targeting women and celebrities.
