First, the team said the dubbing was not completed on time. Then came another reason; the trailer was not ready. Because of these issues, the Telugu release was stopped.
But does a film get completely shelved just because dubbing or a trailer is delayed? Normally, the release is simply postponed and a new date is announced.
Here, however, the Telugu release of this hit film came to a complete halt. The situation has become so sensitive that even other distributors are reportedly thinking twice before stepping in.
And this is not an ordinary film. It has already become a cult hit in North India and created huge buzz there.
At one point, the makers planned to release the Telugu version through a popular director. His photo was even placed on the posters. But some people reportedly objected and asked the team to remove his picture.
That is where the real trouble began.
When the director came to know about it, he was reportedly upset and decided to walk away from the project completely. Soon after, all posts related to the film disappeared from the social media accounts of his production banner.
What started as a poster issue reportedly turned into a full-blown ego clash.
Because of long-standing differences between a few distributors and the director, a successful film has now been kept away from Telugu audiences.
The latest buzz is that the makers are almost ready to give up on the theatrical release in Telugu and are considering bringing the Telugu version directly to OTT instead.
