“Jana Nayagan” is back in the spotlight after Vijay officially became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Adding to the renewed buzz, producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions confirmed in a national television interview that the team is currently awaiting the final CBFC certificate and related clearances.
“Once we receive the clearance, we will bring the film to theaters quickly,” he stated.
The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026, but legal hurdles and censor-related issues stalled its release plans.
The delays also impacted its OTT business, with the original streaming deal reportedly falling through after the platform reduced the agreed amount, putting additional financial pressure on the producer.
However, the scenario appears to have changed dramatically after May 4.
With Vijay riding a massive wave of popularity across India following his political victory, the demand for “Jana Nayagan” has surged again; not just theatrically, but also in the digital space.
Industry buzz now suggests that a new OTT platform has offered a higher price than the earlier deal to acquire the film’s streaming rights.
If finalized, the fresh deal could come as a major relief for the producer, who has reportedly been facing challenges with multiple big-budget ventures, including “Toxic.”
