The makers of Lenin had initially planned premiere shows from tonight.
Though the premieres were not meant for everyone, the team had decided to screen the film for select audiences. Even the theatres were reportedly finalised.
However, the plan was dropped at the last minute.
This was not related to ticket prices. In fact, the makers were ready to hold the premieres at normal ticket rates.
But the team reportedly felt that if the early talk turned negative after tonight’s shows, it could badly affect the film’s opening tomorrow.
So, despite being confident about the content, the makers decided not to take any unnecessary risk.
As a result, Lenin will now begin its theatrical run with early morning shows tomorrow.
Advance bookings have already opened, but the response is said to be below expectations.
Except for the 8 am show, most theatres are reportedly not seeing strong occupancy yet.
This suggests that many viewers are waiting for the first reports and reviews before deciding whether to watch the film.
Lenin stars Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles. The film is jointly produced by Annapurna Studios and Sithara Entertainments.
It also marks Akhil’s first film in a rural backdrop. Thaman has composed the music.
