Mahesh Babu is currently fully focused on “Varanasi,” the highly anticipated project being directed by S.S. Rajamouli.
As expected with a Rajamouli film, the production demands a long-term commitment, requiring the actor to dedicate several years exclusively to the project.
Interestingly, despite being deeply involved in such a massive venture, Mahesh has not lined up any film after “Varanasi.”
Looking at recent examples, other stars who worked with Rajamouli were more cautious with their future planning.
While working on “Baahubali,” Prabhas had already lined up “Saaho” for the next phase of his career. During the making of “RRR,” Ram Charan appeared in “Acharya,” while Jr NTR had already positioned “Devara” as his next major project.
Mahesh’s situation is different. At present, there is no confirmed project waiting in the wings.
One possible reason could be his belief that “Varanasi” will transform his career, elevate his image nationally and internationally, and open doors to bigger opportunities. If that happens, his decision may prove to be a masterstroke.
However, the film industry is unpredictable, and not every expectation turns into reality. Even if “Varanasi” becomes a landmark success, having a strong follow-up project is always a safer strategy.
Planning ahead would help Mahesh avoid unnecessary risks and ensure a smooth transition once his marathon journey with Rajamouli comes to an end.
