A producer who believed he had built a strong bond with a major OTT platform has received a rude shock.
The producer had already worked with the company on films, web series and original content. So, he reportedly expected the platform to back his biggest project without much trouble.
But OTT companies do not work on relationships. Every project is judged purely on business value.
The film was launched on a grand scale and was expected to go on floors after a brief delay caused by the hero.
The OTT platform was supposed to join the project as a co-producer, not just as a streaming partner. The producer was waiting for the first payment before starting the shoot.
However, the company has now suddenly walked out of the project.
The unexpected exit has left the producer in a major financial dilemma. Unless he finds a new partner or arranges fresh funding, the big-budget film may face another long delay.
