The much-hyped Pawan Kalyan-Surender Reddy project appears to have hit a major roadblock.
Last year, producer-politician Ram Talluri launched his new production banner with grand plans and announced a big-ticket film starring Pawan Kalyan.
Surender Reddy was named as the director, while Vakkantham Vamsi was brought on board to handle the script.
However, nearly a year later, the film is yet to show any sign of taking off. Now, the latest industry buzz suggests that the project may be in serious trouble.
According to sources, Pawan Kalyan initially liked the basic story idea narrated by Surender Reddy and Vakkantham Vamsi. He reportedly asked them to develop it into a complete script before taking a final call.
After working on the screenplay for several months, the team finally narrated the full version to the actor. But the narration is said to have failed to impress him.
Sources told GreatAndhra that Pawan Kalyan felt the script did not have enough strength or impact to move forward. He reportedly refused to give the green signal, pushing the project into uncertainty.
For now, the film has been put on hold.
Unless Surender Reddy and Vakkantham Vamsi return with a completely reworked script that satisfies Pawan Kalyan, the project is unlikely to move ahead. There is also growing speculation that the film could eventually be shelved.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s recent meeting with director Sujeeth has created fresh excitement around the OG franchise. The actor publicly confirmed that the OG universe would continue and assured the team of his complete support.
While fans are waiting for clarity on OG 2, the message from the Surender Reddy camp appears clear: the script has not been approved, and the film is now hanging in the balance.
