Citing health concerns and his increasing political responsibilities, reports suggest that the Jana Sena chief is evaluating whether he can continue balancing films and public life.
According to industry buzz, some of his close associates have advised him to stop signing new acting projects.
The discussion reportedly gained momentum following Vijay’s remarkable political success in Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil superstar rose to the post of Chief Minister within just two years of launching his party, drawing inevitable comparisons with Pawan Kalyan’s longer political journey.
While Pawan Kalyan had to wait nearly a decade after launching Jana Sena to become an MLA, he currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and enjoys significant influence in both state and national politics.
However, some party supporters reportedly feel that comparisons with Vijay have intensified pressure on him to dedicate himself fully to politics.
On the film front, except for the success of OG, Pawan Kalyan has not delivered a major box-office hit in recent years.
This has further fuelled suggestions from his well-wishers that he should avoid dividing his time between cinema and politics.
That said, Pawan Kalyan has already committed to a couple of projects.
One is a film for producer Ram Talluri, who is also associated with Jana Sena, while another is for People Media Factory. There are also discussions about OG 2.
Among these, the Surender Reddy-directed project being produced by Ram Talluri is reportedly ready for launch.
Whether Pawan Kalyan chooses to retire from acting after fulfilling these commitments or decides to continue his film career remains to be seen.
