Director Buchi Babu has responded swiftly to the criticism surrounding Janhvi Kapoor’s portrayal in “Peddi.”
On Saturday, he issued a statement expressing regret over certain scenes in the film and announced that changes would be made based on audience feedback.
Following the backlash, the makers have already implemented the edits.
According to our sources, nearly three minutes of scenes involving Janhvi Kapoor have been removed from the film. The trimmed version is being screened in theaters from today.
Several critics had described the portions featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ram Charan in the opening segments as crass and unnecessary.
Many felt that the character was overly sexualized in the name of romance and glamour.
Addressing the criticism, Buchi Babu stated that he has always had “immense respect for women, both on and off screen.”
He acknowledged the feedback from audiences and reviewers and apologized for the concerned portions.
“We have decided to make changes to the concerned portions,” he said, confirming that the controversial scenes would be modified.
The revisions appear to have been carried out immediately, with the updated version now replacing the original cut in theaters.
