Actress Mouni Roy has officially confirmed her separation from husband Suraj Nambiar, putting an end to weeks of speculation around their marriage.
The actress took to Instagram on Thursday and shared a joint statement with her businessman-husband, announcing that they have decided to part ways.
“We note with dismay the unnecessary and intrusive attention into our personal lives by certain quarters of the media. We would like to state that we have decided to part ways and are taking the necessary time to address matters privately and amicably,” the statement read.
Mouni also said that they are currently focused on navigating this phase with privacy and dignity. She added that the friendship they shared would always be cherished.
Requesting the media to stop spreading speculation, she wrote, “Humbly requesting everyone to give us privacy and dignity and not give out any false stories about me or Suraj. Expecting all of you to give us privacy in these hard times. Humble request to all the media houses to please stop.”
A day earlier too, Mouni had posted an Instagram story addressing the rumours about her divorce from Suraj Nambiar.
“Humbly requesting all the media houses to not publish false narratives and give us space and privacy,” she wrote, adding a “please” and a folded hands emoji.
The rumours gained momentum after social media users noticed that Mouni and Suraj had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Mouni Roy married Suraj Nambiar on January 27, 2022, in Goa. The wedding celebrations included haldi and sangeet ceremonies, followed by both Malayali and Bengali wedding rituals. The couple also hosted a post-wedding pool party.
Suraj Nambiar is a businessman and investment banker from Bengaluru. He reportedly lived in Dubai before marrying Mouni.
For a long time, Mouni and Suraj regularly shared loved-up posts on Instagram, including pictures from date nights, vacations and special celebrations, before rumours of their separation surfaced.
Mouni Roy is a popular name in the Indian television industry. She has acted in shows such as Kasturi, Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev and Naagin.
She has also appeared in reality shows like Nach Baliye 6, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 and Zara Nachke Dikha. She recently hosted Temptation Island.
In films, Mouni has appeared in Gold, Made in China and Brahmastra.
