Bollywood legend Rekha has ruled the silver screen for decades and won millions of hearts with her beauty, talent and powerful performances.
But behind the glamour lies a life filled with struggle, heartbreak and loneliness.
Born as Bhanurekha Ganesan, Rekha entered films at a very young age to support her family. She was just 12 when she began acting after her mother faced financial problems.
Her parents were actors Gemini Ganesan and Pushpavalli. However, Rekha reportedly grew up without the emotional support of her father.
Painful Childhood
Rekha once said she had no childhood memories with her father because he had stayed away from the family.
Though she said her mother gave her enough love, she was deeply hurt by the way Pushpavalli was reportedly denied official recognition in Gemini Ganesan’s life.
Rekha also faced several problems while using her father’s name in school and official records.
When asked about him in an interview, she reportedly said she did not wish to speak about him.

Rekha first appeared as a child artiste in South Indian films before moving to Mumbai in search of better opportunities.

Rekha’s personal life has always attracted intense public attention.
For years, there were rumours about her alleged love for Amitabh Bachchan. However, neither of them publicly confirmed the relationship.
In 1990, Rekha married Mumbai businessman Mukesh Aggarwal.
The marriage reportedly ran into trouble within months. Mukesh later died by suicide, and Rekha faced severe criticism and media attacks after his death.
The incident left her emotionally shattered, and she never married again.
Rs 1,000 Crore Property, But No Children
Rekha is now believed to have a net worth of nearly Rs 1,000 crore.
She reportedly owns a large bungalow in Mumbai’s Bandstand area, properties in other locations, luxury cars and an expensive home abroad.
