The trailer of Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has finally been released..
While the latest film from the YRF Spy Universe promises high-voltage action and drama, social media users appear divided over whether its leading ladies look convincing in their action-heavy roles.
Soon after the trailer dropped on Wednesday, Reddit users flooded discussion threads with reactions.
While some praised Bobby Deol, Sharvari and Hrithik Roshan’s cameo, others criticised Alia’s casting and the film’s action sequences.
Several users felt that Alia was not suited to the role.
“Such roles do not suit Alia. She should stop doing them,” one Redditor wrote.
Another user called her a “complete miscast” and criticised the action scenes, saying they failed to look convincing.
Some viewers also complained that the trailer revealed too much of the film’s plot. One user said Sharvari’s entry initially created excitement, but the trailer appeared to disclose the entire storyline.
The action sequences also came under criticism, with some viewers saying that neither Alia nor Sharvari looked fully convincing as action stars.
However, the response was not entirely negative. Many users praised Bobby Deol’s intense screen presence and Sharvari’s performance. Some said the trailer looked better than expected despite concerns over the casting.
Sharvari’s action scenes, in particular, received positive reactions, while Bobby Deol’s Haryanvi accent drew mixed feedback.
Hrithik Roshan’s brief appearance at the end of the trailer also created excitement.
He appears as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, his popular character from War and War 2, and is expected to help Alia and Sharvari on their mission.
The trailer opens with a baby behind a glass shield as Fateh, played by Bobby Deol, names her Sita. A series of stylish visuals then shows him training her to become a deadly assassin capable of eliminating targets on command.
The film offers a modern twist on the Ramayana. In Alia Bhatt’s voiceover, she says that while a demon once abducted a princess named Sita, there will be no Ram coming to rescue her this time. Instead, she will burn Lanka down herself.
Sharvari later makes her entry and is seen engaging in hand-to-hand combat with Alia.
Anil Kapoor appears as the man guiding the two agents, while Bobby Deol plays a former spy who turns against the country with a personal agenda.
Alpha was initially scheduled to release on December 25 last year and was later postponed to April. The film is now set to arrive in theatres on July 3.
