The debate surrounding the box office collections of Peddi continues, with lyricist Anantha Sriram becoming the latest member of the film’s team to reiterate its reported earnings.
Speaking at a recent event, Anantha Sriram claimed that Peddi grossed more than Rs 420 crore worldwide.
His statement comes amid continued promotional messaging from the film’s team, which has been highlighting the movie’s strong commercial performance.
At a recent Republic Conclave, the film’s worldwide gross was cited as Rs 450 crore.
Anantha Sriram, who penned songs for the film, has been one of its most vocal supporters.
Earlier, he had publicly disagreed with director Buchi Babu Sana’s decision to apologise over the criticism surrounding Janhvi Kapoor’s characterisation in the film.
Referring to the box office debate, Anantha Sriram remarked in Telugu that some people had attempted to throw mud at the film’s “flood of collections,” suggesting that the criticism had failed to diminish its success.
However, the collection figures continue to be a subject of discussion within industry circles, with differing estimates being circulated. Industry insiders claim that these figures are highly exaggerated.
The repeated references to figures ranging between Rs 420 crore and Rs 450 crore have only added to the ongoing debate over the film’s actual worldwide gross.
