The makers had even unveiled an announcement poster featuring the duo. However, fearing that repeating the same pairing so soon might invite comparisons and backlash, the team decided to recast the lead roles with Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya.
The decision, in hindsight, seems like a missed opportunity. Chennai Love Story has emerged as a major success, leaving many to wonder if Anand and Vaishnavi let a potential blockbuster slip through their fingers.
Interestingly, the popular pair has already reunited for Epic: First Semester.
The recently released trailer has generated positive buzz with its youthful appeal and emotional depth. Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, and directed by Aditya Haasan, the film is expected to hit theatres in September, though the release date is yet to be announced.
The big question now is whether Epic: First Semester can match the success of Chennai Love Story or even surpass it.
