Godari Gattupaina was promoted aggressively through trendy reel-style videos, projecting it as a cool and breezy entertainer for the hot summer season. The film finally released this evening.
Though the cast is relatively fresh, Sumanth Prabhas already enjoys decent recognition among Gen Z netizens.
At a time when audiences have largely stopped coming to theatres despite the summer holidays, which has become a major concern in industry circles, this film has managed to create surprising traction.
Many in the trade have also blamed the ongoing IPL season for poor openings and weak theatrical footfalls in recent weeks.
Surprisingly, the premiere shows of Godari Gattupaina witnessed full houses in multiplexes, with family audiences and Gen Z viewers turning up together.
This clearly indicates that the trailer and promotional reels connected strongly with audiences, or at least created enough curiosity for people to walk into theatres expecting a light-hearted comedy entertainer.
However, as per the first reports from the audience, the film does not completely live up to the promise of being a full-fledged breezy comedy entertainer.
At its core, it remains a “secular love story” with a familiar narrative. There are no major surprises or shocking moments in the screenplay.
Still, the film does have a few positive aspects that work in its favour. What exactly are those aspects? The full review is coming up soon. Stay tuned.
