A 30-year-old YouTuber and electrician was allegedly murdered inside his home in Hyderabad’s Golconda area on Friday, sending shockwaves through the locality.
The victim was identified as Shaik Mahaboob, also known as Chandi Masood. According to police, the incident took place at around 3:20 PM in Kumarwadi, under the Golconda Police Station limits.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Masood returned home after Friday prayers and noticed a group of people following him.
He reportedly rushed inside his house for safety, but the attackers allegedly forced their way into the residence and assaulted him.
Police said Masood was stabbed several times and also attacked with iron rods and gym equipment.
He suffered severe injuries, including wounds to the head, and died on the spot before he could be shifted to hospital.
The main suspect is said to be Shaik Sohail, the brother of Masood’s wife. Police suspect that Sohail was accompanied by two associates, identified as Afu and Jabir.
Investigators believe the killing may be connected to a long-running family dispute.
Masood had married his wife in a love marriage around one-and-a-half years ago, reportedly against the wishes of some family members.
The couple later had a child, but tensions between Masood and his in-laws allegedly continued. Police are now examining whether this dispute led to the fatal attack.
Additional DCP Krishna Goud said investigators were verifying the facts and recording witness statements to establish the exact motive.
Special police teams have been formed to trace and arrest all those allegedly involved in the murder.
“We will make every effort to apprehend the accused as quickly as possible and ensure justice is served,” the officer said.
A murder case has been registered, and Masood’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Police said further action would be taken based on the investigation and forensic findings.
The incident has created tension in the area, with residents and the victim’s family demanding swift action against those responsible.
