The blockbuster success of Ravi Teja’s Irumudi has brought immense joy to the entire team. The makers recently held success celebrations in Hyderabad, with the film’s cast and crew in attendance.
Producer Mythri Naveen revealed that he watched Irumudi nearly one-and-a-half months before its release and immediately felt that it was a film only Shiva Nirvana could make. He said the film moved him deeply and even brought him to tears.
Mythri Ravi said the emotional response to Irumudi was unlike anything their production house had experienced before. He also felt that the film deserved recognition at the National Awards.
Director Shiva Nirvana recalled the tense hours before the film’s release. He said Ravi Teja’s daughter Moksha had promised to call him once the overseas reports came in, but he switched off his phone because he wanted to experience the audience response only after people had watched the film completely.
According to Shiva, it was Sai Kumar who first called him and told him that the response was outstanding.
Shiva said the biggest achievement for him was the respect and happiness the film brought to every actor and technician associated with it.
He added that audiences had welcomed him into their homes with Ninnu Kori and Majili, but Irumudi had taken his name into their hearts. He said that feeling also reminded him of his responsibility as a filmmaker.
Speaking about working with Ravi Teja, Shiva said the actor gave him complete freedom and was ready to do whatever the story demanded.
He also recalled his seven-year association with producers Ravi and Naveen, which led to Khushi and now Irumudi. According to him, the success of Irumudi has gone far beyond their earlier collaboration.
Ravi Teja, meanwhile, praised the entire cast and crew.
He appreciated the performances of Ramesh Indra, Swasika and Ajay Ghosh, and described cinematographer Vishnu’s work as exceptional. He said the strong understanding between Shiva and Vishnu helped give the film its energetic visual presentation.
Ravi Teja also revealed that Shiva Nirvana himself choreographed the Yaalalo Yaalalo song.
GV Prakash Kumar received special praise from the actor, who called him the soul of Irumudi. Ravi Teja said the background score played a major role in enhancing the film’s emotional impact.
He also revealed that his daughter Moksha was in tears while watching the film on its release day.
Ravi Teja said he had often wondered whether Telugu audiences would strongly accept rooted and emotional storytelling, especially after watching several Malayalam and Tamil films during the pandemic.
According to him, the response to Irumudi has now answered that question.
“Seeing the audience reactions has brought tears to my eyes,” Ravi Teja said.
He also shared an emotional example, saying a friend told him about an elderly couple aged over 80 who had not visited a theatre for nearly 20 to 25 years, but came out to watch Irumudi.
Ravi Teja said hearing such stories gave him immense happiness.
The actor also hugged director Shiva Nirvana on stage and praised his honesty, conviction and simplicity. He said the hug was not just because Shiva had delivered a hit, but because of the person he is.
Ravi Teja also wished Baby Nakshatra a bright future and appreciated her mother for raising her as a single parent after the loss of her husband.
